MEET THE MAKER: Emma from "Harlz & Haven"
How long has your business been operating?
Since Jan 2014 I began my business teaching myself to sew again, after forgetting everything I had learnt in high school.
What do you make and create?
Accessories for the Modern Babe, big and small. Including Headbands, Bibs, Beanies + Swaddles.
Tell me about the person you are in everyday life?
A Mum of 2 girls, Harli 7 and Haven 3. School drop offs, toddler hangs and trying to keep the house in a reasonable state, while fitting work in between.
Tell me about why you love to create your products or brand?
I wanted to create my brand for the 'modern' Mum and her kids, I found it difficult to find something fresh and unique and comfy so I decided to do some research and then start making what I wanted to buy and go from there, hoping others would love it too!
Tell me about the space you work in to create your products?
I have now taken over our office space and even though we live in suburbia, I look out onto a farm across the road each day, it's lovely. As long I have Netflix playing in my ear phones while I sew, I can spend hours in there, that or RnB Friday!
Does your family help or have any input into what you do?
My eldest daughter Harli has started to ask to help pack orders which is awesome. I'm excited for her to join the ranks and put her personal touch on things!
What are your short term goals?
To keep delivering the best quality products I can, with the most compliment worthy designs!
What are your long term goals?
To learn how to use my time more effectively, get some photo shoots done and grow, grow, grow into the empire I see in my dreams!!
Why do you love being a part of the Mermaid Sorority Markets?
The calibre of stalls are second to none. It is the perfect Bayside Themed Market. The cool vibe and friendly people are what make it one I can't miss out on as a stallholder and also as a shopper, neither should anyone else!
Thank you Emma, We really appreciate you taking the time to let us see into your design world!
